San Antonio Museum of Art – Internship Opportunities

Please note: All internship positions are for course credit only.


Internships are available to matriculated college and master's-degree students who will receive course credit for the internship from their college or university.


Title: Teacher and School Programs Intern Department: Education Supervisor: Teacher and School Programs Manager Interns needed: 1 Dates: Start and end dates to be determined with supervisor Hours: Approximately 10 – 15 hours per week, M-F 


Summary: The Teacher and School Programs Intern works closely with the Teacher and School Programs Manager and other members of the Education Department to develop and coordinate learning activities for students. San Antonio Museum of Art Interns gain first-hand experience on a meaningful project under the mentor-ship of museum professionals as they broaden their understanding of museum careers and related fields.


The Teacher and School Programs intern assists with the Museum’s School Programs and interpretation projects such as the School Partnership Programs, Student Tours, Student Workshops, Traveling Trunks, Educator Programs, and Educator Resources.  


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Research, write, and develop resources for students
  • Assist learning opportunities for teachers and students in the museum
  • Prepare program materials
  • Other duties as assigned

Applicants must…

  • Be currently enrolled in a university program in education, art, art history, or related field
  • Understands the benefits of learning with art in a museum setting and the enhanced public role of the museum in the community.
