Outside Protective Services Attendant

San Antonio Museum of Art seeks a full time Outside Protective services Attendant to work and patrol the outside grounds of the Museum, and other areas of the campus as necessary and as required for security purposes. Ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills, and must enjoy interacting with the public. Position requires willingness to work independently and provide coverage for Museum while both open and closed to the public. Schedule will include holidays, weekends and evening hours, and may also require overnight hours. Must be willing and able to fulfill safety and security duties outside in all weather conditions; prior security related and customer service experience is preferred. Schedule will include weekends, evenings, and may include some holidays.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Patrols buildings and grounds; watches for unauthorized persons, fires, and unusual occurrences; and reports emergencies upon discovery. 2. Identifies and reports persons/suspects in cases of unauthorized entry into campus buildings and work areas, malicious mischief, or other violations. 3. Directs the flow of traffic and parking of vehicles. 4. Ensures that lights are on or off as required and that doors and windows remain locked. 5. Seeks out and takes appropriate immediate action against any potential security and safety hazard or condition, which would damage, injure, or otherwise interfere with operations and/or personnel. 6. Responds to alarms and investigates disturbances.  (Requirement not a responsibility) 8. Maintain a high level of confidentiality 9. Able to effectively communicate verbally and written. 10. Monitors and authorizes entrance and departures of employees, visitors, and other persons to maintain security of premises. 11. Ability to confront and/or apprehend persons/suspects in cases of unauthorized entry into state buildings and work areas, malicious mischief, or other violations. 12. Performs related work as assigned.
